Since the early 1990s, Delta Sigma Theta chapters throughout the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia convened bi-annually during Founders Day for a rededication ceremony and luncheon. The goal was to enhance the bond of our sisterhood through fellowship. During the COVID-19 pandemic, this effort took on a different purpose and focused its efforts on community service.
In 2021, 26 chapters across the Washington Metropolitan area (District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia) hosted Day of Service projects that focused on Elder Care recognizing the need to support seniors in our communities. Over 1,300 members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority render 3,698 hours of service that reached 947 community members. Additionally, $47,000 was raised for the Sorority's International Awareness and Involvement Sustainability Plan which will support all seven of the Sorority’s international projects.
